  • Pepsi Vs. Coke: The Cola Wars

    (Fri, 18 May 2012 08:59:57 -0400)

    - By Karin Hernandez:

Last week Jim Cramer, in one of his Six in Sixty segments on CNBC, said "buy buy buy" about Pepsi (NYSE: PEP). My husband is a Pepsi fan, but I have always loved Coke (NYSE: KO). So this article will be my Pepsi vs. Coke stock taste test.

In my analysis, I tend to rely heavily on analyst opinion and estimates. I figure they have been studying the stock for a while and probably have a better handle on the numbers than I do. I do look at current news,...

  • Sirius XM: $1.65 Is The Next Target - Time To Hit The Exits

    (Thu, 17 May 2012 13:25:15 -0400)

    By Cameron Kaine:

What has been a foregone conclusion to everyone in the market that appreciates value is that fundamentals of Sirius XM (SIRI) just didn't support its valuation - and as often happens in severe bear markets, Wall Street has begun to apply a considerable amount of punishment to stocks such as Sirius that sport inflated P/Es. But I'm not one to ever say "I told you so" but in this case I can't resist. As I have been saying for the past three months, no other stock on the market has appeared as...

  • Stocks For Forever

    (Thu, 17 May 2012 10:30:08 -0400)

    By Lucas Krupinski:

Despite many pundits stating that "buy and hold is dead," I continue to believe that it is an optimal way to achieve great long-term returns. Therefore, my own portfolio is comprised mostly of positions that I intend to hold on to for at least several years, with only a small minority dedicated to opportunistic trading.

There are several tax advantages that a buy-and-hold investor has over investors with shorter-term time horizons and traders. For instance, should qualified dividends continue to be afforded preferential tax treatment, investors who hold their shares enjoy a much more favorable tax status on...

  • Cramer's Mad Money - Oil's Not Well (5/16/12)

    (Thu, 17 May 2012 07:21:27 -0400)

    By SA Editor Miriam Metzinger:

Stocks discussed on the in-depth session of Jim Cramer's Mad Money TV Program, Wednesday May 16.

Schlumberger (SLB), Apache (APA), Occidental Petroleum (OXY), Joy Global (JOY), Freeport McMoRan (FCX)

Commodities and oil are getting hit hard, but are stocks in this sector low enough to buy? Cramer discussed the analysis of Carolyn Boroden of FibonacciQueen.com. In a word, the charts of most oil stocks are horrible and are not going to get...

  • 5 Of The Strongest Companies Raising Dividends

    (Thu, 17 May 2012 04:01:46 -0400)

    By Dividend Monk:

Without a significant promotion, relatively few people could say they got a 7.3% raise this year.

However, that?s the combined average 2012 dividend income increase from five of some of the strongest dividend payers around. And considering they offer an average dividend yield of over 3%, that?s not so bad.

These five businesses have fairly strong balance sheets, are some of the largest players in their industries, and have 25 or more years of consecutive annual dividend growth. Many of the bluest of blue chips can potentially have their...

  • Pepsico Lags Its Peers

    (Wed, 16 May 2012 16:45:42 -0400)

    By Jim Van Meerten:

Pepsico (PEP) has been on a tear lately but for the year still lags its peers by a very large margin. Pepsico intends to remedy its image with something for everyone: A major increase in advertising, and increases in dividends and stock buy backs. During the last month the market has taken notice as this hourly trading graph provided by Barchart shows:

During the last 50 trading sessions the stock has even outperformed the market. While the market was down by about 2% the stock was up 10%:

    PepsiCo, Inc....

  • Why Jim Cramer Gives These 4 Dividend Stocks A Buy Rating

    (Wed, 16 May 2012 16:18:45 -0400)

    By Hawkinvest:

Jim Cramer is a former hedge fund manager who has gained popularity as host of CNBC's "Mad Money" show. For months he has been suggesting that investors buy stocks that offer dividends, and that advice has worked well. Dividend stocks have turned in a relatively strong performance for the past year, and even when markets have seen sharp sell-offs, dividend stocks have fared better than most. This trend is likely to continue because the conditions that have increased investor interest in dividend stocks remain intact. The Federal Reserve intends to keep rates low until at least 2014, and...
