For investors currently evaluating dividend stocks, there really are a lot of attractive options. The average yield of dividend stocks in the Dow Jones index is now 2.9%. The S&P 500 sports 15 stocks with dividend yields above 6%. Those are pretty attractive yields for income investors, given that a money market account currently offers less than a 1% return. However, many dividend investors automatically ignore high yielding dividend stocks as they assume that such high yields are too good to be true.

Next up is Jonathan Auerbach's hedge fund Hound Partners. Hound is a New York based firm that Auerbach started with assistance from legendary hedgie Julian Robertson. He is one of the many 'Tiger Seeds' that Robertson has sprouted up in an attempt to crank out a new round of successful investment managers. Auerbach of course previously worked for Robertson's Tiger Management.
Many wireless and wireline service providers have announced quarterly and fiscal 2009 results in the last fortnight. The common theme seems to be that profit margins are under pressure and in some cases even revenues have come in lower than in 2008.
Despite a boost from iPhone, AT&T (T) revenues and operating profits declined in the Q409 quarter. In fact the wireless revenues increase is typically compensated by a decline in wirleline voice revenues.
